It has been reported that the BCCI may start a criminal case against the suspended IPL chairman, Lalit Modi. The proceedings will be initiated for the alleged financial frauds that Modi has committed over the previous three years in the IPL.

Modi, who was the chairman of the IPL ever since its inception, was suspended immediately upon the conclusion of the third edition of the tournament. After that, the BCCI has appointed a disciplinary committee to look into the fraud that was committed by the chairman.

Modi has yet to appear in any of the disciplinary meetings because of what he claims to be threats on his life. It has been reported that the BCCI will file the case for the allegations in the Foreign exchange violations amounting to Rs 125 crore. This was the amount which was apparently paid to World Sport group by IPL.

This will also be the first criminal case that will be filed after the controversy first came to light, and that will mean that Modi will need to appear in the court.
