IPL 5 tickets sales generated Rs.131 million from the last four games

The cash-rich Indian Premier League edition 5 made a lot of revenue through ticket sales during the playoffs. The exact amount that it made during just the playoffs was 131.6 million USD. The season that just got over broke all records of ticket income compared to the seasons 1, 2, 3 and 4.

This amount of income was made purely from 4 matches that are the two qualifiers, 1 eliminator and the final. The total revenue as stated was 131.6 million and after paying 28.24 million as entertainment tax the remainder 103.44 million was their total earnings.

The entertainment tax in Chennai was paid at 25% while at Pune and Bangalore it was paid at 10%.

The first Qualifier at Pune earned in total revenue of Rs.35.60 million, out of which tickets were sold at a total worth Rs17.80 million. Also exactly the same amount was generated through online sale. This was the highest net revenue among the four knock-out games.

The Eliminator in Bangalore had tickets worth Rs.29.02 million sold and after paying Rs3.55 million as tax, the IPL received Rs.25.47 million.

Chennai hosted Qualifier 2 and ticket sale generated Rs.26.93 million the Indian Premier League earned a net revenue of Rs.18.09 million after paying Rs.8.84 million in taxes.

The final played between champions Kolkata Knight Riders and hosts Chennai Super Kings, saw tickets worth Rs.40.12 million sold, the highest income before paying taxes. After paying Rs.12.23 million as taxes, the Indian Premier League made a huge chunk of Rs.27.89 million.

The Indian Premier League is a perfect mix of sports and entertainment and the people just never get enough. We can expect the Indian Premier League to make it even larger in the next edition, Indian Premier League 6.
